Sandhills Specialist Dementia Care Unit

Located in the old Hoylake Cottage building, this Monday to Friday Day Care service provides ongoing monitoring of up to 20 older people per day with enduring mental health problems, targeting those with a history of frequent relapse or hospital admissions.

In partnership with the Community Mental Health teams, the Day unit helps to avoid the need for hospital admissions and keep people in their own homes for as long as possible.

It is a valuable local facility with specialist nurses, occupational therapy and planned therapeutic activities.

Each client receives a hot meal at lunchtime and refreshments throughout the day.

Transport is provided to and from the Day unit by Hoylake Cottage’s own minibus complete with wheelchair lift.

Clients are referred to the unit through Wirral based community mental health teams and consultants in old age psychiatry.

Sandhills offers:
