Sandhills Occupational Therapy
The occupational therapist is a skilled professional who works closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team at Sandhills, helping with assessment and planning and evaluating treatment.
Through a selection of purposeful activities, a client can be helped to achieve an improved quality of life and sense of independence.
These activities, either one to one or in groups, include:
Reality orientation; reminiscence; relaxation; anxiety support; sensory stimulation; quizzes; exercise and movement; open art and handicraft; discussions; social hour; current affairs; gardening; music and dance; multi-sensory environment.
The Service is managed by Registered Mental Nurses who are supported by a part time Registered Mental Nurse, Level II and III NVQ trained Healthcare Assistants. A weekly outpatient clinic is conducted by a Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry. Occupational Therapy service is also provided daily.
