The Future
New Day Centre
To meet a growing demand for our services, a planning application was submitted in December 2008 for a new day unit, which was approved in February 2009. It is hoped that construction work will start in the next three years once sufficient funds have been raised.
This project will provide extended and improved Day Care services on the remaining site with sufficient space for a garden and landscaping. This facility will meet the growing needs of older people in the community who are being cared for in their own homes providing hair dressing, chiropody, bathing service, information exchange service to help keep informed and an internet service.

New kitchen
Planning permission has been obtained for a new kitchen to provide facilities for the 60 residents in the nursing unit, Southworth House. Work is scheduled to start by the summer of 2011 in order to comply with Care Quality Commission (CQC) requirements.
New garden

The garden will be developed at the same time as work starts on the new kitchen. This will involve progressive demolition of the old building in preparation for the planned landscaping. Plans include a sensory garden, raised flower beds and greenhouses accessible to all residents. Any gardening enthusiasts among the residents will be encouraged to get involved in planting and cultivating the gardens.
One in five people cares for an older relative, and many of these carers are also likely to be in poor health.
